$33,000 per person covered
Seems expensive.
The cost - $829,000,000,000 for an additional 25,000,000 people covered is a bit more than $33,000 per additional person covered.
I guess health care is expensive.

Health Care Reform - Another issue
Patients without insurance are often charged more, frequently much more, than would be paid by a reputable insurance carrier.
A patient who is willing to pay at the time of service (cash or credit/debit card) should never be charged more than the lowest negotiated payment made be an insurance company under like circumstances. Since insurance companies require lots of documentation and seldom pay quickly, a low documentation and quick payment solution should actually be better for the health care provider than insurance coverage.

Health Care Reform - Minimum Requirement
In any health care reform it must be possible for me to obtain exactly the same coverage, at the same cost to me, as that available to my congress member, senator, or any of their staff.
Same cost, same coverage, same limitations.
If a "public plan" is part of this package, the congress member and senator must use that plan rather than any of the private insurance options.
No congress member or senator may pay for or obtain coverage or treatment beyond that provided by the government insurance plan.

How much is a trillion dollars?
There has been much talk about large dollar amounts - sometimes in discussions about the "bailout" and sometimes about health care. These kinds of numbers are so big that it is easy to just become numb.
$1,000,000,000,000 => $3,268 per person or $16,340 for a family of 5.
or, just increase the price of gasoline for a year
$1,000,000,000,000 => $3.11 additional tax per gallon.
A senator once said, "A billion here, a billion there - pretty soon you have real money."
